David Williams called last night to let me know that the fox season for Moore County has passed in the Legislature. Harnett and Cumberland were in piggy back status with the Moore County bill. I don't have the effective dates yet. I will get them to you as soon as I get my hands on all the info. David told me about the other two counties, but he did not have that information at hand. They will be in effect for the 07/08 season. My memory fails me, but either Harnett or Cumberland has a local law that prohibits setting foot holds except on your own land. We will have to work on that one.
David began working on this in 2003 when he was president of the NCTA. The county passed it, but the representative in Raleigh wouldn't have anything to do with it. He was voted out last election. I have a copy of the email from Rep. Joe Boylan informing David of the bill passing the Senate.
David has suffered some serious health problems that hindered his trapping and work as a district director. He is doing much better now. He stayed with this in spite of those problems. He deserves a, "Well Done" for his work on this.

If anyone wants to take it up for Pender Co. I would be very supportive but I can't spearhead it for now. There are plenty of them to trap here.

Has Johnston Co. even come up yet Jimmy? Do they vote on all at the same time, or what exactly is the process as far as when the proposal is heard?
Congratulations to David and his persistence. It sure paid off.

The 10 limit disapoints me. I don't know where this is coming from as David sure did not propose it. There is a Wildlife Comittee that reviews all proposed local fox laws. I'll check into that.
Who wants to tackle the no footholds local law? You cannot set them unless you are the landowner. He cannot give you permission.
Johnston County is still winding its way through the system.
