You need to talk to them yourself nctaxi, you are a tax paying voter in Davidson County, they'll listen. I am fighting it here in Randolph county even as we speak, have been since last fall. I am waiting to get my ADC license number and business cards before I go any further with it here. Since I learned that I can't even trap them if they are killing every chicken in the hen house because local laws superseed NCWRC. I think that it will make my fight a little stronger if I tell them that even if someone suspected a fox was rabid or just killing domesticated animals on a farm I couldn't help them because of the crazy local laws. The health department lady that I am working closely with said we should probably wait until I am officially licensed to continue our fight because that would make our case stronger in the sence that as a licensed ADC agent in the state of NC my hands are tied without the change.

Things to be careful about:
That they try to limit trapping to ADC situations by NCWDCA's only if using this to justify a season. It will be their primary focus when presenting it in that manner.
Trap size restrictions.
Any mention of the coyote in local law fox seasons. That makes the season applicable to coyotes, too. That shortens the coyote season as local law fox seasons are never as long as the regular trapping season. You would then be required to release any incidental coyotes caught outside the local law season. It could be said that passing the local law fox season will increase the coyote harvest as more folks will be involved in trapping. It will be an incentive as fox incidental to coyote trapping will not have to be released.
The NCTA is not in any way an authority on what local laws ought to be, but we have seen the pitfalls of one person tailoring a season to what they think is best and proper. Also, sometimes advice on how to deal with these local political entities from folks who have done it can be helpful. Remember, once it passes, you are stuck with it good or bad for three years without having to go back with your hat in your hand and beg for change.

If anybody wants to jump on this for Pender county, I'll help out any way I can. I had to release 2 caught in coon sets last season. Pretty greys, too.
