I'd fight for their right to hunt foxes. Wonder if they would do us as well? Things are not always as they should be. Never will be, nor never was.

Laurinburg NC holds State and National Foxhound trials. I'm talking 500 hounds entered into this event. These are usually 3 day field trials, run on the outside, not in pens. Lots of the fox hunters in this state are proud to have people from all over the US to come to NC to crown a new Champion Foxhound. I know, because I have in the past attended these, as well as entered hounds in the event. Lots of these guys don't want to let this go.

I can answer David's question. About two years ago, Pitt county was considering banning hound hunting in general or severly restricting the activity. Our District Director, Council Burney, worked with the houndsmen to stop it. They were successful. When a fox trapping season for the county was put before the commissioners, the president of The Southeastern Fox Hunters Association appeared and whined, that if the season was passed, they wouldn't have any fox left to hunt. The season passed, but they tried to kill it in the General Assembly. We were fortunate that we had an ally. By the way, he received the Supporter of the Year Award from the NCTA in 2004. They finally got a 30 day season, half of what was proposed. I have put feelers out behind the scenes and I believe that, at this time, local laws are the way to go. See me at the convention and perhaps we can discuss this further. There are issues that I am not comfortable discussing on a public forum.
Call me 919-801-2562 if you want to. That is a cell phone that I usually have with me, even when trapping.

<<Laurinburg NC holds State and National Foxhound trials>> Thats correct, so why should it affect my county? Just about everywhere else with the exception for Laurinburg either have fox pens or very limited open land to fun fox. I just want to be able to catch fox an coyotes in my county useing leg holds to furnish then Pens with live stock. Win win in my eyes for trappers an fox houndsmen.
