I'm a brand new trapper in my 50s'. I could really use some help with someone with experience. Anyone willing to let me tag along or to come check my sets? I am in Southwest Wake County, Holly Springs/Fuquay.
I've got a problem on a small 2 or 3 acre pond where the beaver seems to be trap smart with 330s. I would like to graduate to snares, but no one seems to sell them locally.
The beaver is living in the dam side of the pond. I have 2 330s in a den set that have done nothing in 4 nights. I've put another 330 in 2 different spots, and wherever I put it, the beaver moves a couple of feet to the side and makes a new slide. This is a depredation situation.
So I guess I have 2 questions. Anybody want to me a mentor me just a little? Anyone have a source to sell a half dozen or so snares?

Wish I was closer! I live in Anson county. I'm not in the supply buisness, but I'll make you a few snares, if you like. Postage aint much on snares!

You make your own snares? I thought about that, they don't have to be fancy, do they? But to buy the swivels and ferrules and a clamping tool... I figure it would be best to just buy some. I'll see if there is a way to PM you and we can talk about that. Thanks! Still looking for anyone local that might be willing to help too you guys.

try making a damn break and set a mb 750 leg hold on the top side of the break about 2 feet away from the break.about a foot or so deep in the water. this is aimed to catch the back foot. have it left or rite of his approach point. make a new castor mound either on one side of the other of the break to get him looking at something besides the break. i still place my 280 or 330 off to the left or right of this like on a crossover. i have have good luck with trap shy beavers with this set up. make sure you also have some type of sticks funneling him where you want him to go
