I've always wanted to put a skiff in at Weldon and travel the Roanoke River downstream to Mackeys or Columbia. I'd like to make a leisurely trip of several days. My question is, how much fuel will I need to carry aboard? The boat will be a 20' fiberglass skiff with a 90hp Yamaha four stroke. I would be content to drift a good portion of each day, weather permitting. I would camp overnight along the bank.
Any idea of the fuel requirement I might need to run the entire length, if necessary? The on board fuel tank holds 28 gallons and I could transport the remainder in appropriate containers.

I don't know much about it, but it sounds like fun. There is a website for "Friends of the Roanoke". Pretty interesting and informative.
