I am looking into the possibility of putting on a Trapping clinic at the Gander Mountain store here in Mooresville as we get closer to the season.
I am more than just a little concerned with the assortment of trapping supplies they sell and the lack of knowledge their associates have as it relates to trapping. The new trapper is either going to do it wrong and get in trouble, or do it wrong, not catch anything and get discouraged.
My thought would be to hold training classes for their associates to teach them about trapping and the regulations here in North Carolina, but also put on demonstrations for customers as well.
I can't tell you how many times I have spent an hour talking to a guy I just happened to see looking at illegal traps for coyotes because they didn't know any different.
If anyone is interested in helping out, let me know. It would be in late September or October I would imagine.

That's an excellent idea John. You might also see if you can place a flyer of some sort advertising the convention in the trapping section. Good luck.

Contact Todd, and he can give you some guidance. Not a bad idea.

Excellent idea! Is GM open to the idea?

I am not sure at this point if I can get it going with GM, but the store manager was my daughter's softball coach and he seemed receptive.
