Reds replace Grey?

last year, in one stretch of line, I got into a good mess of grey fox. pulling several a day off the same square mile patch. I finally pulled the line in order to leave seed for this year.
I come in this year and set 10 sets in my most productive areas from last year. in the last week, I've had lots of activity, mainly showing me where to put the trap now, but the sets that did score, scored 4 reds and only 1 grey.

Question: You reckon I took too many grey last year in one area and the Reds moved in to fill the void?
2. Where the heck did all the Reds come from! Never seen on in this area till last year.

Total catch last year was around 33 Grey and 1 red in about a month. in about 1.5-2 square mile area.

My guess is that last year you just thinned out the grays. They're a little more aggressive than a red, and would clog up the traps first.

Rye you think you could let me set a trap or 2 beside yours so maybe i can catch something. lol This farm with all of these yotes sure isn't producing anything. I guess i need to use some of that patience that I don't seem to have. Hopefully the ground will unfreeze soon so at least i can see a track of what is laughing at my sets.

I wish I could help ya! I just had 65 sets out for a week and have NOTHING to show for it... had two stolen, and a couple more that were "checked" for me. Last time I trap public grounds I reckon....
anyway... not much goign on right now anywhere!

Hate to here that. That is the problem with public lands, there are too many looky loos!!! Whoever took them probably doesn't trap just being an a**. Just wish you could have caught them. I guess its just like people trying to hunt with dogs, we have collars removed every year just for meanness. We did catch one last year and so far after our heart to heart we haven't had any problems. Hope things pick up for everyone. PS I don't feel so bad now with my big catch of 1 rabbit. lol
