I think a Lifetime Trapping Licenses is something we ( Trappers ) and the Trapper Assoc. should look into. As the funds could help in Furbearer Management. What do all the Trappers say? Besides Colleen could use the help. The funds should be setup in a Endowment Fund and the interest should only be used for Furbearer Management and the main funds are never used. I think something too check into ?

I think its a great idea. If the NCWRC would like to do this then I would be glad to support Furbearer Management in NC by purchasing a Lifetime Trapping Licence.

I completely support it, but it would probably not be in a seperate fund, it would most likely go in with the rest of the lifetime license endowment, which would be fine by me. Just my .02

I would support it also but at 50 yoa I don't know how many seasons I have left. I would like to think it would possibly help the next generation more than me if I bought a lifetime now.

I`d like to see a lifetime trapping license also. I`m not sure about how to handle where the funds would go!!? Does the NCWRC print a public record of the endowment funds. Can funds from lifetime trapping license be earmarked for future furbearing needs if in endowment fund?

LD your probably right and it would of course be up to them.
Trapperslabs I'll be 46 this October so not sure how I would come out on it money wise. I think it was last year I finally broke even on the Lifetime Sportsman. I have never regretted buying that licence but did have to sell 2 good guns to pay for it before the price went up. I guess for me lifetime trapping priviliges would probably be more of a convenience of not having to renew every year, kinda like having the vehicle inspected so not having to during the busy time.

Not a bad idea... I could see a Kicker Clause being added in for those of us that have a lifetime sportsmans already.
NCTA board members. Is this something you could lobby for?

For those that don't know, the lifetime license fees go into an endowment and the NCWRC only harvests the interest every year. This way, your even contributing when you're dead and gone. As long as we can protect it from the governer and the legislature, that money will always be there. This is one of the reasons the WRC has not been hit as hard by the cutbacks as other branches of the government. They only get about 1/3 of their budget from the General Assembly. This is an excellent program the wildlife commission has setup. I would fully support a lifetime trapping license, and encourage everyone else to do so.

If they would just make a seperate one and attach it t the sportsman license? Kinda of like they did with the recreational saltwater license. That particular sporstman license is 675 if I remember correctly. Maybe for you old dudes they would tack it on to your existing but that may be too much to hope for but you never know without asking! Anyway you look at it is something woth chasing.
All you would need to do is pick up your otter and cat tags each year.

That is most likely how they would handle it, Jake.
