Forgot to mention I use 1.75 Victor OS for yote's. Never had any problem holding any other none target animal getting in them either, great fox trap

I have used, and still use Bridger's, Victors, and Dukes. If you are going to talk about prices you need to compare apples to apples. Since Dukes cost less than Bridgers or Victors I'll use them. A doz. 1.75 Duke's are around 75.00 and are good to go. But if you want to beef it up to make it better than out of the box then you will have 75.00 for the traps. If you don't have a welder then you will pay around 5.00 per trap for parts and labor to have it base plated and jaws laminated. Now we have 135.00 in the doz. Keeping apples and apples we add the PIT pay system to it 32.00 per doz. Now we are up to 167.00. Then if we add the 1 3/4 or number 2 music wire springs for 10.00 a doz. then we are up to 177.00. If the MB 550 cost 190.00 a doz we are talking about 13.00 a doz for a trap with a heaver trap frame. 190.00 is a lot of money but cast jaws are better than lam. and all the other additions are better than stock. That by no means that stock won't catch and hold but since trappers came up with all these additions they must give some kind of advantage.

Don't forget the MB-550's are bigger then the 1.75 size traps. The MB-450 would be a better comparison. Personally I like buying something that I don't have to modify and will last me a lifetime. Your time is worth something too!
