Well, 1 week til the opener here. What are everyone's plans?
I am going to figure on having about 30 sets out for a mix of coon, yote, beaver, and rats. I have to wait til Jan 1 to keep any fox, but will be keeping my eyes open anyway.
I'm pretty excited for it. Got all my gear all ready to go just waiting in the wings for the time to come!

Where are you trapping fox? Hopefully not in Guilford County.....which sucks but that is a different story.
I still need to do some welding, dye and wax. I was out in the garage late last night working on chain setups when I realized I was out of tags. Just ordered some from Larry Finch today. Should have them by Thursday.
I'll be boiling this weekend for sure.

Equipment has been ready. Coyotes only for about three-four weeks. It is too early for other critters unless someone is paying for the beavers to be removed and I'm not real eager to take on any work until March.

Been ready! had traps rigged, dyed, waxed and all supplies ready to go. Holding pins built. Then got to twiddling my thumbs and ordered more traps, and am now working on them. Season starts here in Dec so I have a lot of time. I am going to try to make some waxed dirt and see how that goes.

Checked my dirtholes today...
All 7 of my coon holes had hits, and I added 3 more under a bridge where there is a 4 ft. ceiling. Its a really neat spot where the coon and mink are just beating down a HUGE highway.
All 4 yote holes had hits, and I also scored another section of fields from an adjacent land owner, where I added 3 more holes. Now I'm really pumped up for setting.
g3trappernc - nope, going to have to wait til jan. 1 in rockingham county. it really stinks there isn't any keeping in guilford...

If if at possible wait till at least thanksgiving week to start.Coons are a ways of yet.If you want the most out of the fur just be patient.Easier said then done but it will pay down the road.
Keep scouting and punching in dirtholes and setting up your line.Testing lures & baits. It will be here before eya know it

Getting ready for beavers. Promised a golf course I'd be in there setting traps on the first. Looking forward to wading and checking again.

Be PATIENT!!! I been waiting since last December!!!! Hahaha!!!
As much as I would like to, I might be up for a new job in a new location so I would be kind of stuck if I waited too long. One spot I am doing beaver removal, and at another spot the same for yotes. I am probably gonna have to hit 'em while I have the time, even if it takes the prices down.
I forget who it was, but they had mentioned their wife/girlfriend kicking roadkill off to the side. My girlfriend called me at work yesterday to let me know of a coon, but she wouldn't go near it! HAHA! Its a start though.

I 2nd what Prune said. Fur trapping needs to wait a little longer. A couple of weeks right now can make a big difference. Generally speaking the same animals will still be there.

It is better to wait long enough to have good fur. That could make even more of a difference this season.
Cold wind and chance of rain/snow tonight and tomorrow in Swannanoa.

I got everything ready, I will start on the Nov 1 because I got a feller with a beaver problem. I waited for the season in case of some incidental catches of other critters. I am ready to roll.
I stepped outside about midnight last night and off in the distance I heard some yipping and carrying on. Not sure if it was foxes or yotes, but I know they were too close to the hog pen!
Can't wait to start posting some pics, Uncle Vernon's fur shed is gonna smell of castor and fat soon!!!!!
