I have trapped game lands for years and have had very few problems. I had more trouble trapping on my hunting clubs. The gamelands are not trapped very often and we have thousands of acres to trap for almost free. A gamelands use permit 10.00 or 15.00. Not sure about the amount I have a lifetime sportsman and it is included. If it is a high use area by "non-consumptive" users then I set when the weather is cold and drab. They stay home when it's like that.

Beware of fox hunters on gamelands. They'll take your trap if you catch one of their dogs. When I trap Holly Shelter here I'll either stay close to the highway (they don't like to run their dogs any closer to HWY 17 than they have too, or I'll pull my traps on hunt days (H.S. is a 3-day week area). If your gamelands are high traffic use cheap traps. Good luck.

Yeah I had thought of doing the same thing this year, incorporate it with a weekend of camping with my little trapper and it should be great. Plus the skeeters aint out when it is cold!

I trap GL exclusivley as I have nothing else to trap! LOL
Never had a problem at all but where I trap is DEEP - it is not where you can pull a truck up to and be there and check traps with headlights, Or be to the first trap within five minutes either.
Fox dogs are not a problem where I am it is deer dogs. I have to wait till they are out of the woods till I start land trapping.

So what y'all are saying is that the gamelands use comes with the lifetime liscense. I have the lifetime liscense but on my card, it doesn't say anything about gamelands on it. I thought I would have to purchase it separatly.
Mountainman, if you happen to see Gary Locklear any more, ask him if he remembers any of the members of the Kelly Family in Harnett County. LOL

If it is a lifetime sportsmen license it is included. If its a lifetime hunting I don't think it is.

Just checked the NC Regs book. Even with the Lifetime Licenses you have to pay for the Gamelands Trapping and the Trapping liscenses separatly. Trapping (state) is $25.(Gamelands) is $15. "Trapping on game lands requires a Game Lands Liscense and a trapping Liscense." NCRD pg.9 bottom right #8

you do get the gamelands liscense with lifetime but not the GLT so i guess i will eat my words. i was reading it wrong. You still have to have both state and GL to trap game lands though.

If you buy Lifetime "Sportsman" license, Game Lands are included. You still have to buy a State Trapping License.

Life time sportsman comes with gameland permit. its good for hunting an trapping... allot of times the reg doesn't interpret things quite right. if in doubt give the wildlife commission a call to get the jist of it from them... thats what I did a couple years ago. But if you have a lifetime sportsman, I sure wouldnt waste another $15 on something you already have. Its listed that way if you dont have a sportsman or hunting an you just want to trap is why you would need a trapping an gamelands permit.
