We have a terrible problem with crows pulling the rubber seal away from the windows where I work. I don't know what it is about the rubber seal, but they are not satisfied leaving them alone. I thought they might use them in their nest but they just let the strips drop to the ground. They have been doing this for months and now the boss told me to get rid of them. How? We are in the city limits so some methods are off limits. Does anyone have any advice or ideas? I wish I had a microphone right now b/c I can hear them outside as I am writing this.

I am sure that the above was posted in jest. Call a company that specializes in bird control. Nets, exclusion and maybe some form of harassment. A plastic hawk or owl like you see around marinas and boat houses will only make them worse. Remember, there are regulations applicable to the crow. Not worth a visit to the judge to act without knowledge.

You may want to consider the use of windmills or whirligigs, the motion of the blades will keep them away.

I don't know if it would work on crows but it worked on other birds at the beach..... We would run fishing line from the roof, the deck and around the dock, it was something to do with the way they see things it looks a lot bigger to them and they stay away in fear of hitting it with there wings. Think it was 4' or more apart. Who knows may want to run some from the top of the window to the ground at 2' wide or so and see if it would work....Not much cost.

Having to capture crows pre westnile virus invasion was one of the hardest trapping jobs that I had. they are very smart and learn and never forget something once you try and fail. Urban crows are well verse to people's actitivies, you get only one chance using a mist net over a decoy, if you are even allowed. A: to use a net B: to capture. Peanuts on a wooden rat trap trigger is a lethal way.

PS. had crows as pets in my youth. They are memorized with mirrors and their reflection, much like budgies are. The rubber seals may be a stress relief that they are taking it out on. It also could be a positive air pressure from the building at the seal break making a hissing sound they are attracted to. Cyhanne pepper spray on the seal ?
