I guess I am a little slow but I have finally finished my traps. Bent the dogs, night latched, shorted the chains and inserted in-line shock springs, and laminated the jaws on the new coyote traps and the same minus the shock springs on the fox traps. Made two dozen new chain drags with in-line shock springs. Now I am making sets with trail cameras to see what come and how they react. I have gotten about all of my written permission and checked out all the crops. Got some new land thanks to Google earth. Set up a few feeders for deer and coon. Gas prices! The price of corn has really gone up. Might go to dog food soon. Now I am cutting firewood and cleaning out and adding on to the fur shed. It was really small. Don't know why but I am really excited about this year and can't wait. I just wanted to see who else is jumping at the gate. And we have months to go.

Not done a thing to my traps this summer, and will be buying a few more dozen that needs to be adjusted etc. I'll get it all done, but will probably wait till the last minute.

Did them about two weeks after the season. It is a constant job when doing beaver, groundhog and other stuff through the summer.
Always out scouting and talking to landowners. Spend some time with those farmers. They see way more every day than we can learn walking around now and then. One told me of coyote sightings in a new area where they haven't been last week.
Be warned, you may have to go to work. I spent two days putting up hay this Spring and helping get beans out of storage and hauled to Cargill. Small price to pay for access to this property, but about worked this old man to death, LOL.

Glad I am not the last one getting my trapping gear ready for a change. Beaverstop you are right on. I end up driving grain trucks and bushhoging farm paths which has a double incentive. For the livestock farmers just catching coyotes seems to be the biggest thanks.

"Not done a thing to my traps this summer"
Bottomline with all the fish catching, fish cleaning, fish cooking, and fish eating I know why you haven't had time to mess with your traps. Says a lot about my fishing this year.
