Bowhunter, I remember meeting you over at the skinning demo. Glad you attended the class. We have our big convention in Smithfield in Sept.(26th 27th). Lots more demos, and loads of trapping supplies. Alot of trapping advice can be picked up there. Try to make that if you can. Hopefully someone will see your post from your area. Most people would be glad for you to ride along.

Bowhunter, I was in your shoes last season. This year will be my 2nd. You have come to the right place, these guys give out alot of info and advice. There are ones here that don't mind ride alongs either. There are some I am sure close by to you. It is good to have a mentor to help you start out, I was fortunate enough to have one that lives within a mile of me. Find someone and stay in their hip pocket for a bit, Also get outside look around, read and watch video's. I attended the spring fling and trappers ed and have learned alot. I also learned alot in the field working with another trapper.
As far as smithfield goes, I don't know about camping there, but there are hotels close to the area and they are fairly resonable. Just keep an eye on here, as it gets closer there will be more info. Welcome to trapping, and have fun!

Same as Todd, last year was my first and every morning was like Christmas on the trap line! Glad you found your way here. I'd offer you a ride along, but we are quite far away.

Bowhunter - I am by no means a seasoned veteran, but I am going on my 4th season. Did okay last year for running a before work "yuppy" line.
I am in Guilford county. Give me a shout sometime.

You can go with me next season whenever you want.
