Why is there a square jaw and a round jaw trap....I am going to be buying some 1.5's and some 3.0's coil springs. Just wanted to know why someone would use a square jaw vs. a round jaw and vice versa. Is there advantage to one trap over the other??

Mostly just personal preference. I believe the square jaw gives you a little more jawspread and possibly a little bit higher catch.

sqlhawkn, here is my preference, i will use a sqaure jaw, like them kinda, they seem to catch animals higher up on the leg, but for coon, roundjaw only, with the roundjaw it seems they dont have as much room for chew-outs
