I just got word from my District House Rep that the fox bill I pushed for in Craven Co. is on the floor under HB2234.
I can track the progress of it now via the website. Sweet! One step closer.

Did you originally have the "rubber cleat" part in there?

No, we didn't.. that part acutally wasn't mentioned by anyone until it showed up there. I emailed the Pro Temp to ask if it was a compromise that had to be made in order to get it submitted/approved and where the idea came from. Also, I'd originally asked for it to be stated there would be no county tags required, but that is absent as well.

That's what I thought when you first posted it on here. Oh well, better than nothing.

Got this from the county manager concerning the draft tdoay.
The County Attorney has informed me that there was nothing mentioned about rubber cleats in the draft he submitted. After talking to Rep. Wainwright's assistant we learned that it was a mistake probably made by the Legislative Drafting folks. Rep. Wainwright's assistant has advised that she will talk with Rep. Wainwright and he will get it corrected before it is approved.

more from the House.
To All: Some of you had contacted Speaker Pro Tempore Wainwright concerning the language in HB 2234, CRAVEN FOX TRAPPING. A review of the bill showed that the bill drafter did not use the exact language that was submitted with the bill draft request. Language was added stating "taking foxes with rubber cleat traps". In order to correct the language, Speaker Pro Tempore Wainwright requested that a new bill be drafted with the correct language. That bill is entitled CRAVEN FOX TRAPPING SEASON. Season was added to distinguish this bill from the first draft. As soon as the necessary signatures for the bill jacket are obtained, the bill will be filed for introduction. The bill drafter has apologized for the error, and with so many bills being drafted pertaining to this issue, we certainly understand how the mistake could be made. If you have any questions, please feel free to call our office. Thank you. Blinda Edwards Senior Staff Associate on behalf of Speaker Pro Tempore William L. Wainwright 919-733-5995

Its good to see the process does work. Wish we could do it for Pender.I think it would be a messy battle to say the least.

Rye,
Would you send me copies of how you put this through. I believe you sent it to me awhile back. My e-mail changed before I got them.
