Tonight is the public hearing for the proposed fox amendment. It will be in New Bern at the county admin building, second floor, 7pm. I've heard of no organized opposition at this point but we'll see how it goes.

should be a good turn out.. I've spoken to more than a few and had confirmations from them all. Claudie has also been on the phone rounding up some large land owners to include the owners of Peace N' Plenty as well as a few others. I don't want to put a number on it, but I would say 20 would be a conservative estimate of those that will actually show though the numbers of those who "say" they'll be there are much higher. Colleen was also requested by the board again to appear to answer questions for the public if they have any.

UPDATE:
Meeting went Very well tonight. Only one lady showed up in opposition and she read her statement... Collen later told me it was verbatim off the HSUS website. After the opposition spoke, about a 1/2 dozen people stood in support of the amendment. There were more there to support it, but with 6 to 1 already, the commissioners got the point and approved the resolution to go to the District Reps and on to Raleigh. I am hoping to see this go through in the short session. To those that should up, Thank you!!!!!
to those that are trying it in their counties, good luck and take hope... IT CAN BE DONE!
Second of the three hurdles is passed... the last and largest is coming up in the next 60 days or so.

Rye,
Once I saw how the meeting was going to go, I started thinking about something to say. It didn't take me long to realize it wasn't neccessary though. I think another speaker would have darn near been redudant.
Colleen's comments were the icing on the cake. That's one intelligent, and well spoken woman there.
So let me say...thanks a million Rye for getting the ball rolling...and thanks to Colleen and Claudie Taylor as well. Your comments made all the difference in the world to the board.
I'm happy with proposed regs too....no limit, no more restrictions on traps, and a season of 2 Jan - 28 Feb.
Of course...we still have the state to go through....but right now I have a "warm and fuzzy".
