I learned today that in Stanly,Johnston, Wilson,Orange, and Caswell counties if you hunt and/or fish on private lands you will have to have written permission just like trapping. This went into effect Oct. 1st . It was passed this summer by the Legislature. Sounds crazy to me.Anybody else heard about it?

I thought it was like that statewide.....
I just looked at the regs though, and that isn't the case......
Very interesting.

Been that way in Anson County for 20 years. Thanks to Leon Hildreth, a trapper. Sort of an "equal torment for all" campaign. You ever heard of cutting off your nose to spite your face? Thats ol Leon!

This new law has caused us great pain, I must get written permission to hunt MY FAMILY FARM just because I dont own it. Go figure.

Just get a post-it note, old recipt, or some other piece of scrap paper, scribble some permission mumbo-jumbo on it, and get your dad to sign it. Done.

Its a job sometimes and in some areas the permissions can be like postage stamps. With so many "foreigners" moving into the mountains the stores expanded their sign sections. Posted signs are a big seller. With gradual loss of farm country it gets tougher to get permission and often times good habitat is lost. We can still do the best we can with what we have.
