Mine will be in the mail Monday. Question Jimmy, lets say they pass a statewide fox season, cant the county come in and change that? Isnt that where we have all the problems now? Correct me if Im wrong but doesnt county regs supersede state regs?

County laws are passed through a process called, "Enabling Legislation." This allows the counties to pass laws unique to that particular county that apply only in that county. It is not law until the Legislature says it is. Just because the county passes it, it does not become law until introduced by the local representative and passed by the legislators. Once enacted, one can say it superceeds state law as it becomes law in that county. I expect that the county could pass local trapping laws, even to stop trapping if they wished. The hitch is to get it passed in Raleigh.
The fox trapping ban had nothing to do with local laws. It was changed in 1979 when all hunting/fishing/trapping regulations were rewritten. The fox hunters were a strong lobby in Raleigh. Went from in favor of trappers to in favor of fox hunters over night. I'll let you speculate on why the change in votes came about.
