Got this from Buzzard's post over on T-Man. I actualy got my survey in the mail yesterday.
Gotta pm from a friend who got a survey in the mail.......everyone should show interest in commenting on a general statewide fox season.
From NC game commission. Would be a good chance for all NC trappers to put their thoughts on a statewide fox trapping season. They do have a comment section. Think you ought to post something, and mabe alert NC trappers asso. Good way for the commission to hear from all licensed NC trappers. Caught my eye cause they have a comment section. Phil
If you have not got the survey yet, you will. Don't toss it. Fill in the comment section requesting a fox season for all NC Counties..........Statewide!!

I also requested a removal of the coon limit in Guilford County. No coon hunters here anymore and 37 cases of rabies next year. We need to thin them down and keep them in check to prevent more cases, and more pets destroyed due to contact. Suburban areas like this are breeding grounds for trouble without effective management.

Yeah, I filled mine out yesterday. I also commented on the fox laws, as well as the coon limit.

The survey is important for several reasons. I am going to propose eliminating the fox tagging requirement this year. One of my justifications will be that most fox go into the live market where tagging is not required. The survey was not in place when tagging was passed, so the survey actually gives more accurate harvest data. Please complete the survey as my argument is no good if they are not returned to show numbers of fox harvested. No survey data, no harvest info= continued tagging requirement.
Comment on anything else of interest. I have returned mine with a special emphasis on the coon limit as I believe that we have the best chance of changing that than any other trapping regulation at this time.

The survey will be mailed to all licensed trappers at the address that they gave when buying the license. The back of the survey form has space for comments.

Jimmy,
Any suggestions on how to word things. I know I am not the only one around that is not quite a word smith, and I dont think "let us trap fox " or "I wanna trap more coon" will do. Sean

I filled it out instantly and commented that I would like to see the crazy fox laws to be changed to a season for the whole state with no limits. Sorry beaverstop, I forgot to mention the fox tags on the survey but I kept his office address so I may send him a seperate letter on that. yup, I hate to agree with them but muskrat12 your spelling is awfull! it really makes it hard to read your posts. Please be more careful about your spelling.

Turn the dictionary pages with the finger that is sticking out of the cast, LOL. I am sure that somebody will proof read it for you if you send a message.
Sean
I would mention that the current fox laws as established by counties are so convoluted and and confusing that even the Wildlife Enforcement Officers have difficulty understanding them. Also, allowing county politicians to establish seasons takes management of the resource away from professionals and puts it in the hands of laymen who have no concept what is involved in the process. Putting management of the fox in the hands of the NCWRC is in the best intrerest of both the fox and the trapper as he will be managed to provide a sustainable harvest while at the same time protecting the animal. What lots of people don't understand is that the N.C. Legislature has complete control of the fox thanks to the 1979 changes. NCWRC only does what the Legislature directs or allows. I forsee change, probably not as fast as everyone would like, but change never the less. Y'all talk to me sometime about it. I am reluctant sometimes to put things out. Another reason why one of you youngsters needs to take over. I may not live long enough to see much happen as slow as things go sometimes, LOL.
