Nobody seems to have time to do anything anymore.......we are all very busy and I understand this..........but we are never too busy to play on the puter so it seems, myself included.
The suggestion is one of information, something that NC trappers have little of.........most of us dont have a clue on what if anything is going on.
Would it be too difficult for the president, VP, GO, and directors to have a place on this forum or under the general homepage to monthy give some info on what is going on .

There are alot of us that agree with what Buzzy says above .This day and age information goes around the world quick. All we ask as the membership is what are we poking sticks at? Where we are headed? What do you need from us to accomplish the task at hand (volunteer, write e-mails,? Tell us and we will listen.Yes it is true for a few years i have just cruised not in any orginiztion .But this year trapping and helping someone else get started in trapping plus trapping with my son.I found a bigger push to do whats right.

I just got home. Cant answer all these questions. And I have questions of my own. I dont speak for any association. I shouldnt, you wouldnt want me to. Got a meeting Sunday. Someone will let you know what happens. I will let you know what I find out. Thats all I'll say right now. You have reasonable questions. You need answers.

This is a good post, and it has one of the critical elements of sharing information: asking questions. There is in fact a location on this forum for such updates, the Board of Directors section. the purpose of it was to supply just such information in response to requests by the membership. unfortunately not all of the directors are online, but hopefully that will be changing.

It is not the responsibility of the members to ask questions.......a general overview of the org's activities should be written down at least quarterly, monthly would be better.
As for those directors that are not able to use a computer, a simple fone call to those who can will alleviate this problem.
Case and point........Tony Davis has worked hard for this org. ever since I have been around, I know this only from the grape vine of T Man folks. The problem is nobody knows what he does unless they just happen to know him.
Another point of interest is the lack of computer trappers thruout the state, how do these folk get their information especially if they dont get the trapper ? The information could easily be printed and sent to the membership, If paper and stamps are too expensive for the Org. I will foot the bill.

i agree with a good bit of what you say there, but case in point, you did say specifically on this forum or the homepage, which was what i answered. much of the work does go unknown, but while the directors do have a responsiblility to work and update, the members also DO have a responsibility to ask and keep them selves informed. it's all a two way street. i don't say that everyone should have to ask every single time for every detail, but if there is something you want to know, if it is not readily available, go after it. i've learned alot about alot of things in my life, and none of it was by waiting peacibly for someone to tell me. the first couple posts in this thread were on track, let it be known that you want to know. speaking on behalf of myself, both sides have to meet in the middle and uphold their end of the bargain, which is not always the case. we're all human and sometimes things slip. as far as the non computer trappers, when we have the resources, we do mailings to every address we can get, which is much more expensive that most people think. we set up booths at events, we advertise in magazines, we speak with fur buyers, directors try to build interest in their districts. but you know what is the biggest help to those we can't get in touch with? the general membership. if you know someone who isn't a member, doesn't know of the org, of can't use a computer, help them out by word of mouth. it's another responsibility that comes with the territory. trappers tend to know other trappers, and somewhere in that mix the information exists, or the contact exists. it's a matter of taking the initiative to share it.

Furthermore , quit makin excuses.......I know of one single solitary trapper in the surrounding counties..........that is all I know other than the feds.....How can I give "word of mouth" solicitation when he will not trust you as the NCTA has screwed him outta 20 bucks one time........someone pocketed his money in the NCTA.
Kinda hard to make up for bad experiences ........and those bad experiences have filtered down thru all of his friends and familys and their friends. ..........That aint good especially for such a small org .

Hey y'all Word of mouth is great, and we all should do it. I also think that here is a good place to ask a question, and get an answer where lots of people will see it, and then each of them spread it by word of mouth. There are 46 members of this site, and if they all told one person, now 92 know. All people without a computer know somebody with one. If it hadn't been for websites like this I would have never joined the NCTA. I think the website looks good, but it's always a work in progress. It just needs to be "used" to communicate so "we all" know where we the NCTA stand on different issues. I think here is where we should all talk to each other and know what's going on...............that's all. Might ought to talk about trapping too! Just my 2 cents. Rodney

buzz, i don't quite think you're giving trappers enough credit; although i am sorry i forgot that you need picture-books ;p . like i said before, bad things will happen on occasion in any group, i do not like it and i hate that it had such an effect on your friend.

This would have been a good place for you Buzzard to say, "hey.....my buddy ain't heard nothing", and somebody on here could past that word to the people that need to know. It's about communicating.
In Buzzard's case, I think since nobody replied to some of his posts on T-Man with an answer , he figured nobody cared. I think here is better to post that type question here on this site.............."if" someone is here to answer it in a resonable amount of time. I know board members as well and the president (Jimmy) drop in here often. It really wouldn't be hard to communicate "some" things right here.
