Vernon Thompson, NCTA District 3 Director, prepared and submitted a fox trapping proposal to the Johnston County Commissioners today at 10:00 AM. He, along with Tonnie Davis, NCTA Vice-President, made an oral presentation. I was invited to appear, but I had a previously scheduled appointment that could not be changed.
The proposed fox trapping season, 12-1/2-20 (regular trapping season) was approved unanimously and without any negative comment. Let's hope that it does not hit a bump in the road in Raleigh.

If anybody knows the politicos from Johnston County, or knows anybody who has influence with them, give them a call in support of the law.

Good luck guys, but, after its passed by the county commissioners it gets VERY tricky. We submitted a proposal in Ashe county Sept. 18 the proposal was voted on and passed 4-1 then sent to the Raleigh, we thought it was a done deal. In Jan. I was informed that the newly elected senators would not present the bill to the general assembly, so I had to start all over again, on Feb 5, I went back before the county commissioners presented the proposal (with a lengthy discussion), it was voted on and passed again 3-1, then sent to Raleigh again. This time I started talking with senator Goss and senator Tarlton when they received the proposal. The senators seem very supportive of the proposal,, well,, senator Goss introduced the proposal to the state senate on Feb 27, senator Tarlton said today that he would be submitting the proposal to the house of representatives on March 7. After the Wildlife Commission got through setting the guild lines for the proposal we now have a proposal that has a 10 limit, trap restrictions, chain restrictions and a three year season, I did manage to get the starting date changed today it was starting Dec. 1, (our season starts Nov. 7). Regardless of what your proposal said you are going to get what ever the Wildlife commission thinks you should have, God only knows what they base their decision on. Good luck, Bob

Thanks for all the insight Bob. Looks like we'll be doing the same thing. I will pull every string I know to pull to get this through. You guys have given people the desire to try. May have a few questions down the road. Thanks!!

Hey guys just a suggestion if I were you I would call senator Leo Daughtry (919) 934-7265 Leod@ncleg.net and senator James Langdon Jr (919) 733-5849 or (919) 894-5797. Tell them what you have done and what they will be receiving, explain the trapping laws you now have and what you want changed. The more information they have when they submit the proposal helps them and you. Good luck, Bob

Vernon knows Leo Daughtry. He has talked to him to pave the way. Daughtry was around during the fox battles.
