I need to make some decision folks.Iwant to invest in some dp coon traps and ive heard the lilgrizz is the best, price is not an issue but ive been reading on trapperman about Yancys dp trap, any thaughts on this trap vs the lilgrizz? from what ive seen on trapperman the lilgrizz seems more compact ,faster to set and totaly self contained with no parts to loose.Iguess ive answred my own?but would still like to here youalls experance.thnks for looking ...woodsmoke

Jason,
Have only used the lil griz's but they are coon catching machine's.A little pricey but worth it in the end.Had a dozen of them got another dozen at the spring fling...hopefully gonna get at least 2 more dozen of them. Now that the limit might go away vcan thin the raccoond down a little better on some farms
NCowboy(Pete Moss) has used both griz's and Yancy's DP trap

I had Bottomline let me use 3 of his lilgriz for a few weekends and I got 9 coons. They were easy to set and use. I posted some pic of the sets if you wanted to see in my first coon post.. nctrappers.proboards45.com/index.cgi?board=trapping&action=display&thread=1202486291I know a lot of people that use the LilGriz and I would say try them. No need for tools or anything, and easy to bait.. Talk to Lostyournoodle1 on the board thats where I'm getting mine and he had a good price... Jon

I've been trying to use some old plastic egg traps (don't know the brand name) They are a pain in the derrier to re-set. Have not used little griz. May every one pray the coon prices remain firm this coming May sale.

Go with the grizzes, you will not be disappionted. They are the most versitale coon traps out there and they hold up too. Its basically all I use now.

Hey jason, yup I have both an used both the lil griz an DP`s. They both have a place on the line, the lil griz traps are top an use them in low theft areas, use the DP`s in high theft areas if you think it is a high theft area. The lil griz speak for themselves. The DP`s hold any coon that sticks its foot in the trap, they are less expensive (maybe half price) but you have to use the setting tool, it has 2 end caps that go flying when you catch a coon an you have to use the setter to release the coon after the catch. The fix for the end caps is, drill a small hole in the end caps an thread a small cable throuogh to hold em together. Also with the DP`s the coon can still chew but I dont think enough to pull out. Its a pretty strong trap but the lil griz is alot easier. I had a doz DP`s an sold 6 an a setter to that noodle dude at the spring fling an bought a doz lil griz from him. Like I said, they both have a place on the coon line. Just that the lil griz has more places on mine

John, theft is useually not a problem where i trap ,but i will be expanding my line this year.My thaughts are if i add some st.link chain and then a cable and cable stake with the chain above ground it would help cutdown on theft(trying to make it as theftproof as possible).thank you for the reply.Jason(lilgrizz it is)
