I finally got that last beaver out of the swamp. She's been showing me up for weeks and even wore out another guy I know. well after giving her a slight break, I went back in with a 750 and gave her the smack down! first check on the 750 had a stick in the trap and burried in the dam. Second check found the dam repaired and the trap gone. found her at the bottom with the drowner rock. Looks like she fired it as she was packing the mud in. Weight was just under 60lbs. Question! The teeth were busted up pretty good. was this from chewing the cable or trap? I didn't see scratches or chew marks but the teeth were trashed!

Nice catch, maybe you can catch a break before another smart one moves in again! I made some sets today, we'll see what happens tonight!

Great job Ryan, you said though that the dam was repaired? That might mean there is another in there. Maybe a 2 year old.

I made 5 breaches when I left out of there on Friday..I'm probably going to be in there tomorrow scouting/listenign for turkey. I'll check them and if they are repaired, I'll set again.
BTW Sean, I was right... my buddy skinned her to get ready for the tanning process and said she had just one kit in her. How's that speak for the population???

two of the five breaches were clogged today.. hard to tell if it was "repaired" or just debry collecting from the wash out... the over all water in the swamp has dropped 5 feet on the bank and probably 1.5 -2 feet vertically.

I've had beaver with broken teeth before and within a month there is illreguarities in growth of the teeth. Growing sideways etc. I've seen incorpulated 22 bullets in lower jaws--- those ones eat only cat=tails, and have sabertooth tiger teeth, this was some of the problems we had up here with summer beaver bounties being paid.... they got poached and heads were moved 200 miles to were the bounty was paid..Manitoba now has a winter trapping program. It's a little harder gettting the sights on them under 3 feet of ice................Broken teeth are a main problem that I saw at the Museum level with trapped animals. Pre-conibear days the museum collected Woverine skulls and 80 % had broken teeth because of trap bitting.

That's cool....congrats. I hope you got the access you wanted too...
I'm not sure the 1 kit means too much about populations..it's onl;y one beaver. The mommas I've been skinnin' all week have had between 2 and 7.
