As I pulled up to my first set this morning I could see a bunch of grass and dirt on the blacktop from a distance so I knew I had made a catch. I pulled up and there was this awesome looking cat laying there. I thought maybe yotes got to him, but he was just taking a nap and picked his head up when I rolled down the window. He just layed there so I snapped a quick pic from the truck. As soon as I opened the door he lunged once and I watched him run off un-scathed. Had I known he was caught like that I woulda shot him from the truck and not even messed with the catch pole. I couldnt really see his foot and how crappy he was caught. Moral of the story, dont count your cats before they are in the bag..........LOL

Dang man!! I would have done the same thing. Not had that happen yet, but I have rushed to dispatch on a few critters that didn't look like they were caught good. Maybe you will get another chance.

That cat of yours never made it up to Canada, it never got past the Wisc drums. NAFA moved its drumming out of Winnipeg a couple of years ago. Once bite -twice shy. Change you bait/ attractant at the set where it got away. Good luck on the go-around/ come back.

Or better yet, put another set close-by. He won't quite as suspicious of a different one. Had that happen with a coon one morning last year, but I moved the trap 10 feet and had her a couple of days later.

Didnt get any pics as the camera batteries died on me but his foot was burried in that MB650 he wasnt going nowhere!! I will post some pics tonight when I get home from work before I skin him!!!!

I got to thinking about it and I know how you feel.Years ago in the fur boom around 1979 I guess I had a grey fox got out thumped him took fox out of trap for a remake about as I was finished I looked over at the fox and he was standing there looking at me .I had a MarkII ruger strapped to my side loaded with a full clip.I said to myself no problem I will ease the pistol out and pop him.Bad move I pulled the gun he broke and run a Clint Eastwood I am not
