so I'm new to this whole trapping thing and well prune has showed me what to do and i am doing it, to no avail. so every day after work i go and check my traps and there tripped so i call prune he said turtles! i think soup he said nope got to work on catching beaver first so i continue to try and still i go and traps are set off and well today i went and walla i had 2 turtles caught in my traps snappers. so so for my first catch just to ensure they wont return to mess my traps up i did them in so now I'm thinking soup again. point is wish me luck as i continue to try to get my first beaver. thanks.

Newt buys the snappers. Keep them alive and give him a call. Since you already killed this one, there's a thread on here somewhere on how to clean one. I think Sdavis did it. Pics and all. I hear they're tasty.

i got another, but a bit smaller there is a big one every time i go he swims around a taunts me! i think i found a Castor mound of his and its fresh how do you suppose i set a trap on it? there is no really clear path he is using to get on it and there are more nippings then i know what to do with in the water around the land. here is a picture to help.

I'm still new to this beaver thign too, but I'd put 330's in the those fingers off to the right of the castor mound depending on how big(wide) they are. As for setting on that mound, don't. Make your own a few feet/yards away where the terrain and bank are more conducive to your set.

Nice catch, grats on the 1st!!! On some points w/castor mound and a landing on both sides I set both sides w/#5s or similar size footholds. One of my favorite beaver locations!
