Much to my dismay, the County Commissioners opted to have a public hearing on the fox amendment I've asked for. Being as legislation was stopped on it last time to a lack of hearings they want to ensure this doesn't happen again. I am pleased they are receptive of the idea and are working the matter. However I am worried we'll be out gunned at the public hearing by anit's and dog runners.
The public hearing is Schedule for April 7th at 7pm. It is currently on the agenda for this up coming meetings. I am new to the trapping community so I just don't know that many people. for those of you with friends in Craven County, please let them know of the meeting date and time and encourage their attendance. We'll need a good gathering in support of this as I feel the opposition might prevail due to shear number.
Thanks for reading and spread the word! Also, to those of you that have emailed me for my notes and info on how to do this, take note of the public hearing as you will probably encounter the same in your area. To those that have pointed me in the right direction and gotten me this far, I thank you publicly. I wouldn't have been able to even get started with out your assistance.
I need to contact Claudie and let him know where this stands though I am sure he probably already knows. Also need to back breif Toni as I've not yet gotten a hold of him either.
Thanks!

Do you think supporters from other counties would help out in the hearings? I have never been to those hearings, but will help out however I can!

To be honest I can't say one way or the other. I've emailed or called a couple of guys from Carteret Co. in hopes of getting them to show. However they trap in Craven too so it would affect them as well.

Rye, Nice talking to you tonight. Don't be afraid to take me up on my offer.
As for the hearing....I was thinking...I have some friends who are predator hunters that would surely be willing to attend even though it doesn't directly effect them. Some older fellas who talk a little smarter and have a little more tact than I do......

Hey Boss, I live in Richlands, NC (Onslow county) and just started back trapping last season. We only have a handful of fellas that trap local and I'm beginning the process to get Onslow's fox trapping laws amended too. I'm also starting to address a secondary issue with trapping limitations on Camp Lejeune and MCAS New River ($150,000 acres plus). I'm going to try and attend your meeting on 7 April. R/S R. Lively

Be glad to have you. Send me your email addy and I'll send you the notes I have. It's late to start, but if you work hard and push you might make it to the Session this year. I know there are a few down your way that would like to see it changed as well.

Hey rye....what kind of notice are they going to give regarding the public hearing? Any chance it could just slip under the radar? I've seen that happen with issues before.....

will be published on the net as part of the county agenda, and is also typically published in the Local paper as part of the agenda... I am honestly hoping that apathy lends itself to their cause and they don't bother to show up
