Hello. I live in Buncombe County and I am trying to get fox trapping legalized here.
I do not fox trap but I have taken the NCWRC ADC class and think there should be a way to legally trap foxes.
I did send a proposal to my rep Bruce Goforth but apparently it did not reach him in time and I believe I might be able to get a proposal introduced into the short session of next year.
Is even worth it to try to legalize snares along with leghold traps for foxes?
Thanks

Good luck. Some counties have been successful, and some have not. I would mention the word "Coyote" as much as possible in your proposal. Let us know if we can help you with anything.

Would it be easier just to have the season enacted as a state statute rather than a local law?
Thanks

That may be possible in the future, but right now you have to start with your county commissioners. Fox(trapping and traps) now fall under the "local law".

So there is no way to get the legislature to pass a fox trapping statute for certain counties like they did for firearms hunting of foxes in 1989?
Thanks

crc, I'm not sure about that. I don't understand alot on the "system".
Beaverstop on this site is the most knowledgable person I know on the system, and how things work. Maybe he will chime in when he sees this, or just send him a pm.
