I can get the sets to work, it's tearing up the landowners fields and paths that I'm concerned about. I don't have to go in there once, but everyday. Been a rough year weather wise. My problem exactly. I wish it would at least freeze solid again!

Yep its been a tough year weather wise. With so many things to deal with including a late start I could use some kinda break. I'm not in a position to quit so in for the duration.
If given a choice I would rather chop or maybe improvise some trap beds than deal with mud and mudball catches.
When I started this water line I couldn't get any 110 stabilizers or stabilizer and guide sticks into the banks and had to do some chopping to rework bank trails with the tile spade. At least the water levels were stable then.
It would help, or at least improve the odds some if the ground froze long enough to lock up some of the runoff to stabilize the water levels and if the snow doesn't make driving too difficult. When the roads get too bad I won't push my luck. Been through enough of that...
Another snow storm coming Friday. If the water is workable tomorrow then I should have a short window to get more sets in this week. Finishing the setup in time will take fast moving and there wont be much in the way of second chances to get it right on the setup. No doulbt I've done missed a good percentage of traveling male mink that came and gone with no sets waiting for them.

Polyfil works great for me for keeping out the mud. I have had success the first morning after a heavy rain moves through when using a bait rather than a lure.

I reset this afternoon.. .and put another couple in. I'm hoping they are on the move tonight after the weather blew through last night. As cold as it it's going to be, I ought to check them round midnight to avoid frozen feet.
