Hello. New to the site. As the subject states, I am a member of the NC Taxidermist Association. I am trying to find out how we, as two seperate organizations, can work together. I am doing a little leg work for the Taxi Association, which may go as far as I can take it. It seems that we fight some of the same fights and could all use a little stronger voice. I am working with the president of our asso. to get more members and a bigger voice and a bigger presence to the hunter/ trapper. I am starting to get back into trapping, only a near 30 year absense, and would like to know if there are any members that are around the Davidson County area? I could really use the help to straighten the learning curve . Let me know what I can do to make this more beneficial to our organizations, and if there is anyone out there who'd be willing to help a semi-old fart out learning trapping before season begins. Thanks for your time.

Greetings nctaxi,
It is a pleasure to see that your organization has a similar interest as the NCTA. We have some legislative issues working right now aimed at increasing harvest of furbearers and streamlining the sometimes confusing regulations. We will need some help at the public hearings this winter if these items make it to the agenda.
The best advice that I can give you regarding help with trapping is for you to attend our annual convention in Smithfield on Sept. 29-30. This is a free event intended to promote trapping and fellowship among trappers. There are several trapping demonstrations each day. We select the best trappers in their particular field of expertise to conduct these demos. Further information about the event will be posted here after our August board meeting.
We also invite several supply dealers to attend. You will be able to evaluate and purchase the latest equipment.
There is a cookout on Friday night where you can meet other trappers. Quite often, more information is exchanged at this gatherinbg than at any other time as you are in an informal setting with those of similar interests.
Last, join the NCTA and NTA.
I hope to see you there. If you have further questions, contact me and I will put you in touch with your NCTA District Director.
Jimmy

Smithfied is just about in the middle of the state. The Livestock Arena site is maybe 7-8 miles north off I-40. I can't remember the exit # right now, but it is Hwy 210. You would take I-85 to I-40 to 210. Not a bad drive for you since it is almost all interstate. Send me a PM with your name and phone# and I will get it to him.

nctaxi, Davidson county is in district 6. Richard Hinson is a director in Albemarle. The NC taxidermy assn has been represented at our convention a time or two over the years. David Williams over in Robbins (also in Dist 6) was president of NCTA a couple years, served as director several years, and is a taxidermist by trade. If NC taxidermy Assn would like to set up a booth let us know. There is no charge. Do yall have an annual event?

Yes we have one in August. I took a third place with a yote last year. I want to get us all involved in making our organizations better. I am also talking to the NC Bowhunter Assoc. about joining forces. I really believe if we all get together we can change some of the laws and regs and bag limits (ie fox). Beaverstop I sent pm, look forward to hearing from you. If there's anything I can do for you guys, let me know.
