Fox season does open in Caswell County on June 1st. I will not add to the mix of opinions on summertime trapping or anytime trapping for the pens, I will however answer the question. Biscuit, I understand the mindset in your area, most of them small farms up there have a couple of rabbit dogs and are deathly afraid of coyotes...... The first thing I would attempt is calling. If your un successful at that, you will have to trap it.........do NOT use a conventional dirt hole or flat set using lure. While it may take some extra work on your part narrowing down locations, urine post sets can be used w/ a much less chance of coon catchs. How you construct the sets will also help lessen the chance of a fox catch..... trap placement---- center of pan approximatly 10 inches to the side of the urine post. pan tension------- 6 or 7 pounds of tension will work to keep out most fox and all coons. By using this set, you remove the focus from the set and prevent a focal point in which steady pressure is applyed........in other words no pouncing of sets like some fox do. It will work and your incidentals furbearer wise will be little to none.......but there is one drawback.......that set will catch every free running dog that crosses that land ! One last thing..........put a bullet in its brain when ya get done.........its a better thing to do

I had not thought to increase the pan tension to that extent, that is some good stuff.

And on another note........
Jimmy,
Your a bit confusing , especially after this morning.
I got a coyote complaint call from Prospect Hill w/ no damage whatsover, the folks are just a bit un nerved about two coyotes in their back yard on several differnt occasions.
The strange thing is........the NCWRC gave the lady my name and telephone number to have me deal w/ it.
The stranger thing is , Im not a "cerified" agent anymore , never have been put on any trapper list for the state, and havent been on their web sites WDC listing in several years.
Anyways.......I told her we would visit tommorow evenin.
